The V.C. Browne and Son NZ Aerial Photograph Collection contains approximately
35,000 images. The collection spans a period of over 50 years, commencing in the
early 1930s through to the late 1970s. The majority of the images it contains
are black and white aerial photographs which provide a unique perspective from
which to view the evolution of society in New Zealand.
Victor Carlyle Browne 1900-1980
The photographs are the work of V.C. Browne (Victor) and his son W.K. Browne (Bill).
Although most photographs are focused upon the New Zealand South Island , and
the Canterbury region in particular, the collection also covers most New Zealand
cities and towns.
The VCBrowne.com website includes historical aerial photographs of the New Zealand (NZ),
North and South Islands. Including Canterbury, Southland, Westland, Fiordland, Christchurch,
Dunedin, Invercargill, Westport, Greymouth, Hokitika, Nelson, Kaikoura, Wellington, Auckland, Wanganui,
Hamilton, Napier, Gisbourne, Whangarei and other NZ locations.
The site is a convenient source for New Zealand heritage aerial photographs.
